Transition Time!

Oh, February! I have so much love for this month!  There are so many great things happening this month, leading up to even better things next month!  I have lots to share, so I'll try to be quick.  Bullet style, it is!

  • First, on a purely personal note, I added a "Follow me on Pinterest" link in the right sidebar.  I am a bit addicted, but I actually do try to use the pins I find, at least some of them.  ;)

  • February Online Mystery Host Party is posted!  What is a Mystery Host Party?  Anyone who places an order online during the month of February will be entered to win the host rewards for all the online orders of the month. If there are at least $150 worth of orders placed online, I will draw a name from all of the orders placed online.  Standard rewards will be awarded.  Get your friends and family to order online to up the number of rewards to be awarded!
  • February scent of the month is Pixie - A mischievous moonscape of pink pepper, mandarin, and heliotrope, deepened by exotic teakwood and vanilla oak.

  • Also this month, Scentsy is introducing ScenTrend, the latest trend in fragrance.  The ScenTrend for 2012 is Pink Pepper, found in some of the scents available (such as Pixie) but also a great addition to some of the scents available (such as Love Story). Fruity, floral, and feisty Pink Pepper is a comforting yet contemporary scent—and the latest trend in home fragrance.

  • February's warmer of the month is Flutterby - Conjure the magic of the first green signs of spring with Flutterby. Fanciful butterfly cutouts cast delightful shadows on the wall when lit.  I love the simplicity and beauty this warmer offers.

  • As mentioned in the title, February is transition time.  We're clearing out the old with a 10% discount on everything except Combine and Save packages and licensed warmers.  Many items (mostly holiday, but some others, too!) have been placed on the discontinued list.  This is always my least favorite part of transition time, but I'm comforted by the knowledge there are bigger and better things to come (I can't wait to share the new catalog!).  Transition time is also one of the best times to join!  During transition time, new consultants receive testers from both the old catalog and the new catalog at no extra charge!

  • Discontinued items at the end of this month include two buddies (Pookie - the holiday buddy, and Sasha - the Charitable Cause buddy), 22 full size warmers (Blizzard, Bluster, Caldera, Scentsy Cream, Delta, Fright Night, Full Court, Gingerbread, Jolly, Lotus, Maize, Menorah, Merry Berry, Milano, Paws, Pinecone, Prancer, Silent Night, Socorro, Tannenbaum , Torino, and World Cup), two mid size warmers (Little Lamb and Over the Moon, both from the nursery collection), and eight plug-in warmers (Bloom, Fright Night, Gingerbread, Rust, Silent Night, Snowday, Snowflake-Red, and Weave-Scarlet).  Snapshot does appear in some lists as being discontinued, but Scentsy has confirmed that Snapshot will make a return, even though it will not be featured in the new catalog.  The holiday warmers and buddy may return, but the others are discontinued. There is a deeper discount after February, but once they're sold out, that's it.

  • The scents leaving the catalog at the end of the month are listed below. Some of these scents may return in the Fall/Winter catalog but I have no way of knowing until August rolls around which scents will return and which ones are axed for good.  I know I'll be stocking up on Flutter and Honey Pear Cider this month.  ALL BRICKS are being discontinued.

Sorry for the information overload!  I'm going to break this into two posts.  Be on the lookout for another post pertaining to the new products that will soon be available as well as a few sneak peek photos! I can't wait for the new catalog, though I am sad to see some of my favorites going away.

As always, don't hesitate to let me know if you have questions.  I'd love to help!

Have a scentsational day!

Pure Cuteness in My House!

I am so excited the warmer and scent of the month for July arrived today!  It's a mid-size warmer in a full-size box but is only a mid-size price, even though it has three pieces.  For the month of July, the warmer will be only $22.50!  The Happy Birthday scent is such a perfect scent for it, too.  I love it!

From the FAQ:

Q    How can I buy Scentsy?
A    Scentsy is purchased through an independent Scentsy consultant.  You can purchase online at Hold The Flame, or contact me directly for assistance at jodi at HoldTheFlame dot com.   I would love to be your Scentsy consultant.

Scentsy cannot be sold in stores or on eBay or other similar sites.  Scentsy can be sold at fairs and expos, though there will only be one consultant per show.  Otherwise, all orders for Scentsy product are placed through a consultant, either through the website, an open house, or a party of some sort.

As always, contact me for specials as well as loyalty rewards.

From the FAQ:

Q    What products are available through Scentsy?
A    Scentsy sells wickless candles, ceramic warmers, stuffed animals, antibacterial foam, and other home-fragrance products.

That was the short answer.  The long answer is found by checking out my website and browsing through all of our fabulous products.  We offer over 80 scents in the form of wax bars/bricks, room sprays, scent circles, and some select scents are available in travel tins and scent packs.  The stuffed animals are probably some of my favorite items because they're so soft and cuddly.  Of course, there are always new items being added all the time (the Buddies are only about a year old, even though Scentsy is nearly seven).  Who knows what the future holds?

When Life Gives You Lemons...

I love, love, LOVE lemons, especially in the spring and summer. I can't get enough of them.  I love lemonade, lemon muffins, lemon cupcakes, lemon chicken, and (of course) lemon scents filling my house.  I've already made lemon cupcakes this year and will likely be making lemon cookies or lemon bars soon, and maybe even lemon sorbet.  I made a great lemon icing for the cupcakes and had so much left over that I used it as a dip with graham crackers. Everyone raved about it.  Yum!

One of my favorite lemon scents is Coconut Lemongrass.  Last spring I was itching for a good lemon scent, and that fit the bill perfectly.  July rolled around with the whole Bring Back My Bar special and Luscious Lemon came back for the month. I have that at work, though it's difficult for me to warm it there since it tends to be a strong scent and I'm in a pretty small space with other people and I don't want to knock them out with my Scentsy. I just want to knock out the stinky boy and dusty computer parts smell.

With the sunny days and warm weather, I've really been craving a lemon scent to brighten up our little office, so I decided to find another scent to help tone it down.  If I had Vanilla Cream, that would have made the perfect lemon cupcake scent.  I had something pretty close, Vanilla Walnut.  These two combined actually made the room smell great!  Unfortunately, my new favorite lemon scent is combined from two discontinued scents!

Suger Cookies!

Since today was Teacher Appreciation Day and this past Saturday was a certain someone's birthday, we were tasked with making treats for school today.  With all the rain we had gotten the past two days, I had no desire to stop at the grocery store for various ingredients I didn't have on hand, so I decided to keep it simple.

One of my favorite recipes for plain and simple treats is So Easy Sugar Cookies. I have no idea where I found the recipe, but it's one of my favorites when I'm looking for a quick and easy recipe.  There were a wide variety of sprinkles added to the pan prior to baking, sprinkles for everyone.  These were a great hit with my daughter's classmates and her teachers, which made her positively beam.

Of course, baking these cookies last night was nearly the same as warming a Sugar Cookie bar (click here for Scentsy recipes containing Sugar Cookie).  I could smell the yumminess but couldn't taste any of it since the entire pan was going to school and I didn't want there to be one missing.

Mix it up!

I have a warmer on my desk and work and since I'm sitting right next to it all the time, I try to be careful with the scents I warm. I can't warm anything too strong or my head starts to hurt. I can't warm anything from the bakery/cafe line since those scents tend to give me wicked cravings.  I can't warm anything others in my department don't like.  There are lots of restrictions, so I limit myself to a few scents.

Flutter was well received by everyone, but Amber Road was not.  Some people liked Luscious Lemon but some thought it was too strong.  I put in My Dear Watson today and realized that was far too strong for me to sit right next to it.  I decided it was time to start playing with recipes at that point.

I saved the My Dear Watson back into the original container and decided to mix Welcome Home with something.  There's a cinnamon element to it and I am not a fan of most of the cinnamon scents unless there is something cutting it. I don't have a big selection of scents at work, but I was able to find one that works well with Welcome Home.  One cube of Cappuccino (BBMB from last summer) mixed with one cube of the Welcome Home and it smells a bit like a coffee house in the middle of winter.  With the way the weather was today, it was perfect.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day is fast approaching, less than two weeks away!  Visit the Scentsy Buddy page and have the little ones color a picture for Mom!

I will be able to spend this Mother's Day with my fabulous five-year-old.  We have no plans as of yet, but I see possibilities of shopping, park visiting, and dining out for that day.

How will you be spending Mother's Day?

Bring Back My Bar

BBMB is back! Voting opened today for Bring Back My Bar. Go vote often for your favorite retired scents to make a comeback during the month of July. This is my favorite time of year, partly because I love to see what people are voting for but also because I get to try a whole new world of scents.

My personal favorites are Leather, Vanilla Oak, and Blackberry Bushel out of the ones I've smelled, though there are many in the list that we love. I would love to see Flower Shop, Berries and Bubbly, Banana Nut Bread, Carrot Cake, and many others make the list as well. Check out the entire list of candidates here.

Tell your friends and family. Bring back the scents you all love!
